Classic Cutout Cookies...

Classic Cutout Cookies

You will need:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cream of tartar

1. Mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, almond extract and egg in large bowl.
Stir in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Cover and refrigerate at least three hours.
2. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Divide dough in half. Roll each half 3/16" thick
on lightly floured cloth-covered surface. (I use cheese cloth).
Cut out cookies with your favorite shaped cookie cutters.
Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
3. Bake 7 to 8 minutes or until light brown. Remove from cookie sheet to wire
rack. Cool approx. 30 minutes, then decorate as desired.
